GAME RULE INFORMATION

Magi have the following game statistics.

Abilities: Intelligence, Intelligence, Intelligence. Intelligence is the primary ability used to determine bonus spells and saving throws for Magi's spells. It will also affect the number of skill points the character gets per level, thus affecting his knowledge.

Alignment: Any.

Hit Die: d4.

Class Skills:

The Magi's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Alchemy (Int), Consentration (Con), Craft (Int), Knowledge* (arcana, history, local, one other of player's choice) (Int), Profession (Wis), Scry (Int), Spellcraft (Int). See Chapter 4: Skills in the Player's Handbook for skill descriptions.

Skill Points at 1st Level: (2 + Int modifier) x 4.
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Class Features:

All of the following are class features of the Magi.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Magi is proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, and quarterstaff. Magi are not proficient with any type of armor or shields. Armor of any type interferes with a magi's movements, which can cause her spells to fail (if those spells have somatic components). Note that armor check penalties for armor heavier than leather apply to the skills Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Pick Pocket, and Tumble. Also, Swim checks suffer a -1 penalty for every 5 pounds of armor and equipment carried.

Spells: A magi casts arcane spells. He is limited to a certain number of spells of per day, according to his class level. A magi's spells refresh along with his body and mind by getting a good night's sleep.

A magi interacts with metamagic feats as a sorcerer for rules purposes.

To learn or cast a spell, a magi must have an Intelligence of 10 + the spell's level. The Difficulty Class for saving throws against magi spells is 10 + the level of the spell + the magi's Intelligence modifier.

A magi may cast a lower level spell (of a level he has no available slots) by substituting a spell slot of a higher spell level.

Eschew Spell Preperation: Spells need not be prepared ahead of time.

Spell Feats: At first level, and every fifth level, a magi gains a bonus feat. This feat must be a metamagic feat, an item creation feat, or Familiar.

Any feats gained in other ways are not limited to these selection.

Spell Book: Magi start out with a spell book that contains all of the cantrips (0-level spells) and 3 1st-level spells of the players choice. This spellbook will be added to as the character encounters scrolls and other spellbooks and learns spells from other Magi.
